Superdrol, which is also known as Methasterone or Methyldrostanolone is an AAS (Anabolic-Androgenic Steroid).
What benefits does this “designer steroid” offer? Is it safe to use, or like so many other steroids is there a risk attached to its use? [toc]
What is Superdrol?
Superdrol is often called a prohormone, but this would be incorrect, it is, in fact, a steroid.
Its name came about by combining “Super” and “Anadrol”, which at the time was considered one of the best mass builders available.
This steroid has been shown to produce hard and dry gains after just a few short weeks, making it a popular choice among bodybuilders looking to gain mass quickly.
History of Superdrol
Methasterone was first created in the 1950s as doctors looked to create a compound to fight tumours.
It was during this research that it was found to be a “potent orally active anabolic agent” with low androgenic activity.
Despite its proven benefits, Methasterone never became a prescription drug with the researchers choosing to develop Drostanolone instead (this was eventually released as Masteron).
Methasterone, which was subsequently branded as Superdrol was finally released in 2005 and quickly became a huge success.
Chemical Structure of Superdrol
The nomenclature of Superdrol: 2a,17a-dimethyl-5a-androst-3-one-17b-ol.
This steroid is similar in structure to Masteron, but with an added 17aa group and without an ester chain.
These changes make it orally active, while also helping to increase the strength and anabolic action dramatically.
The reason why 17aa has been added is to make it more effective for oral consumption. To ensure it is able to pass through your liver.
Potential Benefits of Superdrol
Users of Superdrol have reported experiencing the following benefits:
- An increase in size and muscle mass
- Overall strength boost
- Boost in nitrogen retention and protein synthesis
- Fast-acting
One of the biggest benefits of using Superdrol is that because it has no estrogenic properties. This means that you won’t encounter any associated side effects, such as water retention or gynecomastia.
Possible Side Effects of Superdrol
Superdrol is hepatotoxic, which means that it is toxic to your liver. There are various cases where this steroid has caused liver damage [1].
This is not the only possible side effect you may encounter through its use.
Using this steroid can also:
- Cause a spike in your blood pressure
- Increase levels of bad cholesterol
- Leave your body in a state of low testosterone
It is important when taking steroids that you undertake PCT immediately after use. This will reduce the risk of long-term side effects and will hopefully get your testosterone levels back to normal.

Here are some questions that have been submitted by our readers:

This steroid is sold as 10 mg capsules, and complete beginners are recommended to start off with this dosage daily.
More advanced users will tend to opt for a dose of 20-40 mg daily.
Superdrol Cycle Information
Cycles will usually last 6 weeks maximum. Most would recommend a 3-week cycle, as it has been reported that any benefits cease going into the 4th week.
Longer cycles have been used, but those who have done so have encountered serious liver issues.
What is the Half-Life of Superdrol?
The half-life of Superdrol is between 8-9 hours.

Famous Names to Have Used Superdrol
At the present time, there have been no athletes caught doping with Superdrol. This may be because it is not detectable, rather than it is not being used.
An investigation by the Washington Post [2] concluded that it is likely that athletes from Major League Baseball, the National Football League and U.S. Olympic teams have used Superdrol.
Is Superdrol Legal?
This steroid is not legal, it was banned by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) back in 2006.
In many parts of the world buying steroids, and even importing them can result in a prison sentence.
After this steroid was banned, users have turned towards alternatives like Dymethazine, which was made up of two of the molecules found in Superdrol. Dymethazine has now also been banned from sale by the FDA.
Where Can You Buy Superdrol?
Superdrol is banned from sale, but that does not mean that it is unavailable. There are numerous “clones” currently available to buy online. No doubt you know someone at your local gym that could help too.
The question probably shouldn’t be where can you buy this steroid, but rather why would you want to?
Would we recommend Superdrol?
Despite its proven benefits, there are also significant risks associated with the use of this “designer steroid”.
Of course, there are ways to reduce these risks, but why would you want to take any risk with your health? There are safer ways to gain muscle and strength, so I would recommend looking for an alternative.

What pct for superdrol?
Looking at various bodybuilding forums the drug that is often recommended is Nolvadex. 🙂
Can Supa-drol and D-ball be used together, 4 week cycle with both + liver support and a Nolvadex pct after the cycle?
We do not recommend the use of Superdrol.
Been looking at this for a while. Guess I need to look for an alternative now.
