👋 Hi! Tell us about yourself and your training
My name is Albert Samuel Sackey and I am 21 years old. I am from Ghana in the West of Africa and I live in Dansoman in the city of Accra. I am currently in my third year in the university. I weigh about 84kg. I am 5 foot 5 inches tall.
Some of my personal records in fitness are deadlifting in 170kg at a body weight of 65kg when I was just 18 years old. And also benching 90kg on an inclined bench press.
I have been training for the past four years but not consistent and I just got tired of being a skinny kid so that’s why I started training.
I did athletics and played soccer when I was in junior high school. And I branched into basketball in senior high school. My hobbies are watching movies, reading (sometimes) and playing basketball.
⏱ Describe a typical day of training
When I go to the gym, I sit there for about 10 minutes before starting my workout. And I always start my workout with some shoulder exercises. I take one-minute breaks between sets.
I train four days per week and about an hour and half per session. I train with my friends but I prefer to train alone.
I only have my water in my gym bag. I cycle to the gym so that’s enough cardio for me. My favorite workout is the standing shoulder press.
My philosophy is “Go Hard or Go Home”.
👊 How do you keep going and push harder?
By being disciplined in the gym and also listening to music when motivation is low.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was when my mother didn’t approve of me going into bodybuilding, but she started getting used to it when she saw how positive it made me feel.
🏆 How are you doing today and what does the future look like?
My training currently has been messed up because of the coronavirus but I hope to bounce back when it is all over.
My goal in the next five years is to be a fittest software developer the world has ever seen. My plan for reaching these goals is by being hard working, dedicated and disciplined.
My plans beside fitness is to be a software developer.
If i had the chance to start all over, I would have added more cardio into my workouts.
🤕 How do you recover, rest and handle injuries?
I avoid injuries in the gym by pushing the weight I know I can push and is enough for me.
I take a break from working out if I get injured.
I sleep for about seven hours and take short naps throughout the day.
🍎 How is your diet and what supplements do you use?
I am currently not on any diet and I mostly bulk the whole year.
On my cheat days, I would eat a lot of fried meals.
I also don’t use supplements but the only supplement I tried once was creatine.
I do not drink alcohol but sometimes I take a cup of coffee before I set off for the gym.
👍 What has inspired and motivated you?
I get my motivation and inspiration from experienced fitness personalities on social media especially Instagram. I listen to reggae dancehall when i workout.
The best advice I ever got was from the owner of the first gym I ever signed up for and he told me i can do anything as long as i put my mind to it.
✏️ Advice for other people who want to improve themselves?
Be disciplined and don’t go weights you know you can’t lift because Rome wasn’t built in a day. It takes time.
🤝 Are you taking on clients right now?
I am not into personal training now but I help some of the guys who are new to the gym and fitness.
